Orange County Police Searching for Drivers Behind Two Hit-and-Run Incidents

By Orlando Personal Injury Attorney on December 18, 2020

Hit-and-run news continues with two different accidents that took place within Orange County on Friday and Saturday, December 3rd and 5th. Because the person/persons responsible for the crashes remain unaccounted for, what precisely took place remains an object of speculation. What we do know comes from reports issued by members of the Florida Highway Patrol as well as members of the Orange County Sheriff’s Department. Members of these two law enforcement organizations were joined by EMTs and paramedics in responding to the crashes after they were first reported.

The first fatal collision happened near the intersection of Silver Star Road and Dardanelle Drive, close to 11:00 on Friday, December 3rd. Reports suggest that a 63-year-old was on foot and attempting to cross the western lanes of Silver Star Road when a vehicle approached them, struck them, and then fled the scene. No one witnessed the crash, and authorities are asking for anyone with any information relating to the fatal incident to come forward and aid the investigation.

The second incident happened a few hours later, close to 6:30 in the morning. At this time, a pedestrian was walking along Sand Lake Road close to where it intersects with Golden Skye Lane when they decided to try and cross the street. It was while they were walking in the travel lanes of Sand Lake Road that a red Jeep Wrangler sped down the road and struck them. Again, no witnesses were present to better describe the vehicle or its driver.

In the second case, the authorities know that the car was a red Jeep Wrangler due to recovered debris, including pieces of the red front grille as well as a vanity plate that says “Jeep.”

Both of the pedestrians who were involved in the crashes suffered from severe injuries as a result of the collisions. Paramedics and EMTs were called to assist in both cases, but when they arrived there was little they could do to transform the situation away from tragedy. Both of the pedestrians were declared dead at the scene of the crash.

Authorities are asking anyone with any information relating to the case to come forward.
