TikTok Influencer from Hialeah Killed During an SUV vs. Motorcycle Collision
Local traffic homicide detectives with the Hialeah Police Department are currently requesting the public’s assistance with the identification of a driver who caused a deadly hit-and-run accident that claimed the life of a popular TikTok personality Tuesday evening in Miami-Dade County.
According to a recently released surveillance video from the authorities with the Hialeah Police Department, it was close to 9:30 p.m. on January 25, 2022, when 34-year-old endoscopy technician Leonardo Gil Fraga had just finished a shift at the Hialeah Hospital and was heading back home on his motorcycle in the southbound direction of LeJeune Road near East 21st Street.
It was as the young motorcyclist approached the intersection of East 21st Street and 8th Avenue that a dark-colored sport utility vehicle seemingly appeared out of nowhere and attempted to make a left-hand turn in front of the biker but instead forcefully collided with Fraga, who had the right-of-way. Immediately after the motorcycle accident occurred, the driver of the SUV pulled their vehicle over next to the injured victim, and for a moment it seemed as if they were going to help the 34-year-old man, however, after a few minutes, the SUV fled the scene of the crash. An undisclosed amount of time passed before another motorist noticed Fraga and called 9-1-1 to report the collision.
Miami-Dade emergency response teams were dispatched to the scene of the accident and transported the 34-year-old seriously injured motorcyclist to Jackson Memorial Hospital but he was unable to survive the severity of his injuries and passed away soon after arrival.
“Our family right now is just devastated. He only had his motorcycle for like three months; he never had a motorcycle before. We are just devastated because you never expect something like this to happen,” said the victim’s niece Delia Acosta.
Over 100 friends, relatives, and co-workers attended a memorial service on Thursday that was put together by the victim’s place of employment, Hialeah Hospital. A GoFundMe account has since been created to help the family with funeral costs and additional expenses. At the time of his death, Leonardo Gil Fraga was bringing joy, laughter, and smiles to nearly 90,000 followers on TikTok.
