One Dead in Osceola County Hit-and-Run

By Orlando Personal Injury Attorney on May 21, 2019

It was during the night of Saturday, May 18th, that a crash took place at the intersection of San Lorenzo Road and Cortez Court that left one person dead. According to the current reports from the Florida Highway Patrol, it was a single-vehicle car accident involving a Toyota 4-door that contained at least two individuals.

An unknown person was behind the wheel of the Toyota and driving the car down the northern lane of San Lorenzo Road. It is not clear exactly at what time this was happening, and so we can not speculate on whether or not there was much other traffic in the area of if the Toyota was perhaps alone on the road.

For reasons that are currently under investigation, the driver of the Toyota either lost control of the vehicle or allowed it to drift off of the roadway. Before they were able to correct this situation, or before they were able to regain control of the vehicle, the Toyota crashed into a sign standing near to the roadway. The collision with the sign pushed the Toyota further out of control and the car then collided with a tree. This is where the path of the Toyota ended, although the damage had already been done.

It is not clear who called the emergency services in relation to this incident, but when the paramedics and EMTs arrived at the scene they found the crashed car with one person inside of it: the 26-year-old passenger. This individual had sustained severe injuries in the crash and was declared dead at the scene of the incident.

The driver of the Toyota, on the other hand, was nowhere to be found. It is believed that following the crash this person, who was either uninjured or not hampered by their injuries, exited the car and fled from the crash site. At the time of this writing, the authorities have not released any information regarding their leads on any possible suspects involved in the incident except to say that they are looking into a person of interest. Still, it is believed that the driver involved in the deadly collision is still roaming free.
