Orlando Man Dies in Single Car Crash
Troopers with the Florida Highway Patrol are in the process of investigating an auto accident that took place close to 10:00 on the night of Monday, March 11th, and resulted in the death of a 36-year-old individual from Orlando. Reports from the Florida Highway Patrol stated that the incident happened along State Road 414, close to where it intersects with Hiawassee Road.
The vehicle involved, a 2004 GMC Envoy, was headed westbound on State Road 414. The driver of this car, the above-mentioned 36-year-old, either lost control of the car or simply misjudged its location on the roadway. This caused them to swerve from the road and into a guardrail located nearby. After striking the guardrail, the authority over the car was completely taken from the driver and the Envoy then skidded across more areas of the road and over several exit lanes. It is not known if the car struck anything else, but its charge across the exit lanes ended when the vehicle overturned.
The Orlando man driving the car was reportedly not wearing a seatbelt at the time of the crash. As the car began to overturn, this person was ejected from the vehicle. Throughout the process, this person sustained severe injuries.
It is not known if it was a witness to the crash who called 9-1-1 or if someone came upon the accident shortly after it happened, but soon emergency response crews were rushing to the scene in order to try help anyone involved. When they arrived, they found the single car, still overturned, and the driver lying on the road nearby. Paramedics and EMTs began to assist the badly injured man, and he was loaded into an ambulance and rushed to Orlando Regional Medical Center for more advanced treatment.
Despite the efforts of the doctors and nurses at the hospital, the motorist’s injuries were too severe to respond to treatment. They were declared dead sometime after arriving at the hospital.
At the time of this writing, troopers are looking into whether speed or alcohol contributed in any way to the circumstances of the accident. No further information regarding the single-car-crash is available.
