I-75 Ramp Crash Critically Injures 26-Year-Old Parrish Woman
A car crash that occurred early on the morning of Tuesday, February 16th, 2016 caused critical injury to a 26-year-old Parrish woman. The incident occurred on an entrance ramp to Interstate 75.
Around 2:00 a.m. that Tuesday, 26-year-old Kylie S. Lewis was headed westbound on U.S. 301 in her 2014 Chevy Impala. Lewis was driving in the center lane, approaching the traffic light at the southbound entrance ramp to Interstate 75. Meanwhile, 26-year-old Mudasar Abid of Elk Grove, CA had stopped his semi-truck at the traffic light in the outer left turn lane, waiting to turn onto the same entrance ramp. When the arrows on the traffic light turned green, the semi driver says that he made his left turn and Lewis’s Impala ran the red light and ended up underneath his truck.
As a result of the crash, Lewis was taken by emergency medical personnel to Blake Medical Center in Bradenton, Florida where her injuries were declared critical. Abid, the driver of the semi-truck, was unharmed in the incident.
Florida State Troopers are still investigating the incident, and authorities have not yet stated whether Abid’s account of the incident can be confirmed. Assuming that the semi driver’s account is accurate, no details have yet been released as to what may have caused the 26-year-old to run the red light.
