Florida DHSMV Indicates a Recent Rise in Orlando Car Accidents
According to the latest traffic data released by the Florida Department of Highway Safety and Motor Vehicles, the number of Orlando car accidents that have occurred in 2020 is on a fast-track to surpass the entire amount of collisions for 2019. To date, there have been 116 recorded fatalities in Orange County that were the direct result of a car accident and with a little over two months left in the year, there is a serious concern that these statistics will continue to rise.
The city of Orlando is situated in the heart of Orange County and boasts an impressive population of 285,713 as of 2018 – a number that has certainly increased within the past two years, although data from the 2020 United States Census has yet to be released to the public. Even though the absolute latest information isn’t currently available, Orlando was already in the position to comfortably claim its “stake” as one of the largest metropolitan regions in Florida. The beautiful year-round weather for residents combined with the massive amounts of tourist destinations and resorts that surround the area has led to a continuous annual boost of drivers that are hitting the Orlando roads each year. This is absolutely wonderful for our local economy, however, the unfortunate reality is that this has also placed more and more people behind the wheel and in the driver’s seat, which has ultimately resulted in a significant rise in car accidents in Orange County.
Car accidents can have devastating and lasting effects for the injured victim, of course, but oftentimes the entire family is trying to cope and deal as well – especially if there has been a death. Depending on the severity of their injuries, the victim could be facing lost wages or a complete loss of employment or insurance, months or years of mental & physical rehabilitation, permanent mobility issues or paralysis, and so much more. If you factor in all of this with the added strain of mounting medical bills which can sometimes surpass the actual amount of coverage your policy provides…let’s just say that all of these things combined have the potential to give car accident victims a pretty bleak outlook about how to proceed with their recovery and the rest of their lives.
