Weekend Crash in Osceola Results in Fire and Fatality

By Orlando Personal Injury Attorney on May 27, 2019

On the weekend of May 18th, a fatal collision took place in Osceola County after an SUV crashed and exploded into flames. Reports from the Florida Highway Patrol members who responded to the incident paints a grim picture, but they also feature a noticeable lack of details. This means that the investigation into the crash is, at the time of this writing, still very much ongoing while authorities attempt to discover just what happened to cause the fatal incident.

What we know so far is that the crash took place sometime during the night, with estimates of the exact time hovering close to 1:00 on Sunday morning. Shortly before this time, an SUV was being driven down the northern lanes of Narcoossee Road. The name and any other identifying features of the driver of the car were not immediately released, although it was not clear if this was because the driver had yet to be identified or if it was due to the fact that the family of the driver had not given authorization to the police to release this information.

While the individual was driving down Narcoossee Road’s northern lane, something happened to cause them to lose control of the vehicle. In the following moments, the driver was not able to regain control of the car and it subsequently shot off of the road. Before the driver could regain control of the car, it collided with a telephone pole. The force of the collision caused the car to erupt in flames.

It is not known if the driver died as a result of the crash itself or if they perished later, in the fire. By the time the emergency response crews arrived it was too late and the individual was declared deceased at the scene of the crash. Although many facts related to the incident have yet to be released, it is known that the investigators are still considering it possible that alcohol played some role in the crash and following death.

The driver of the car is believed to have been the only person in the car at the time of the crash. It is not known if they were wearing a seat belt.
