Two Injured and Two Killed in Deadly Multi-Vehicle Pileup in Orlando
Authorities in Orlando are currently working to determine the cause behind a fatal auto accident which claimed the lives of two individuals near the intersection of Lee Road and Crawford Avenue on May 6th, 2021. Early reports indicate that the deadly situation arose after the alleged suspect fled the scene of a routine traffic stop as they were being pulled over by an Orange County Sheriff’s deputy.
According to an early statement from the Orange County Sheriff’s Office, this tragic chain of events was set into motion shortly before 10 a.m. Thursday as local officers attempted to conduct a routine traffic stop with a gold Chevrolet Impala at the BP gas station located close to Lee Road and John Young Parkway. It was as law enforcement approached the Impala that the driver made the decision to flee the scene and they sped out of the gas station parking lot. As per OCSO policy, no pursuit was given, however, roughly four minutes later, Orange County dispatchers started to receive the first batch of 9-1-1 calls regarding a multi-vehicle pileup at the intersection of Crawford Avenue and Lee Road between Edgewater Drive and Orange Blossom Trail.
Witness statements retrieved from local bystanders and one of the crash survivors herself indicated that the whole ordeal was basically over by the time she could process what was happening. “It was just a loud screech and boom. The white car T-boned the one that is flipped over and then the white car he was trying to avoid and then he ended up hitting me,” said Marge Pascal, who was driving a different small white sedan at the time of the collision. After hearing the screeching sounds from the accident, employees from a nearby Take 5 Oil Change rushed from the job site to assist the severely injured victims inside all 3 vehicles. “There was already 30-40 people trying to help and then trying to open up the passenger side door of the second car and back and one guy is saying stay with us, stay with us man this is not your time,” said Take 5’s lead service tech Dave Leathery.
Although Orange County officials have yet to release any further details about this terrible car crash, they did indicate that two individuals were unable to survive the severe nature of their injuries sustained in the crash and they sadly passed away at the scene. Two other victims were said to be in stable, but critical condition and were both transported to local hospitals in the Orlando area. Additional information about their current status is unavailable.
