Three Die in Fiery Marion County Crash

By Orlando Personal Injury Attorney on June 30, 2020

At least three people suffered fatal injuries after an auto accident within Marion County on Friday, June 26th in the city of Dunnellon. Reports on this particular incident remain scant as the incident is still under investigation, but we do know a few things at the time of this writing thanks to updates provided to us by members of the Florida Highway Patrol who were on hand to respond to the reports of a crash shortly after the accident itself took place. Most of what we currently know comes from these FHP reports.

While the reports do not state the specific time of the incident, we do know that it was sometime during the morning. We further know that three vehicles were involved: a pickup truck and two cars. These three vehicles were traveling along either State Road 200 or County Road 484, but the reports failed to state which exact road the vehicles were using at the time of the incident. This means that it is likely that the vehicles were traveling down both roads and that the crash took place at the intersection.

What exactly caused the accident is not clear. We do not currently know if the intersection features a stoplight or stop signs, so it is not possible to offer much by way of hypotheses relating to the actions of the drivers involved. What we do know, and this from officers with the Florida Highway Patrol working within Marion County, is that after the collision took place the pickup truck caught fire. It is not known how many people were inside of the pickup truck at the time of the crash, and it is also not known how many people were inside of the other cars.

As a direct result of the crash, three people were declared dead. Whether these three were the drivers of the various cars involved remains to be seen. The reports did not offer any information regarding the possibility of other victims being injured in the fatal crash.

While the initial investigation into the crash was underway, the intersection of State Road 200 and County Road 484 was closed to vehicles coming from every direction.
