Tampa Driver Dies After Crashing Into Orange County Tree

By Orlando Personal Injury Attorney on December 31, 2020

Local authorities are currently investigating a fatal Orange County auto accident which involved a single vehicle just a few days after Christmas. Behind the wheel of this vehicle was a 26-year-old individual from Tampa. It is not believed that any other people were inside of the car at the time of the accident. Reports from the Florida Highway Patrol place the time of the crash during the early morning hours of Monday, December 28th, 2020.

At approximately 2:45 a.m., the 26-year-old Tampa driver was behind the wheel of her car and driving down Winter Garden Vineland Road. At some point while nearing the intersection of Jacaranda Boulevard, close to where Winter Garden Vineland Road enters the city limits of Orlando, something happened to cause the driver to lose control of their vehicle, a 2013 Toyota Corolla. Before they were able to regain control of the vehicle, it left the roadway and began to drive along the side of the road while still traveling at a fairly advanced rate of speed.

Before the driver was able to regain control of the car and either stop the vehicle or navigate it back onto the roadway, they crashed into a tree that was standing near to the asphalt. Despite the fact that the driver was wearing a seatbelt at the time of the crash, the force of the impact between the Corolla and the tree resulted in the woman sustaining a number of severe injuries.

It is unclear of how the authorities were notified about the accident, whether it was a passing motorist, a passing officer or medical person, or if whether the driver themselves was able to contact the emergency teams, but paramedics, EMTs and members of the Florida Highway Patrol rushed to the scene only a short while after the accident took place. When they arrived, there was little they could do for the driver. The emergency medical personnel tended to her while the police directed traffic and established a perimeter around the crash site. After a brief period of time, the medical workers pronounced the woman dead.

An investigation into what happened to cause the deadly collision remains underway.
