T-Bone Car Crash in Orlando Kills Two People
Investigators with the Florida Highway Patrol have officially opened a formal review into the chain of events that led to the deaths of two individuals after they were involved in a T-bone collision early Tuesday morning on University Boulevard in Orlando.
Preliminary incident reports from responding troopers with the Florida Highway Patrol indicate that it was approximately 7:30 a.m. on August 9, 2022, when an 18-year-old male resident of Orlando was behind the wheel of a 2017 Nissan Versa heading in the eastbound direction of University Boulevard. As the young adult driver approached the area of Pelee Street, he attempted to make a left-hand turn from University Boulevard onto Pelee Street and in doing so, he positioned his vehicle in the direct path of an oncoming 2016 Ford Mustang being driven by a 22-year-old man from Orlando. The Ford Mustang struck the side of the Nissan Versa which caused the Versa to roll over onto its side and slide down the roadway before eventually colliding with a pedestrian who was standing on the sidewalk at the time of the accident.
Emergency responders with the Orange County Fire Rescue and officials with the Florida Highway Patrol were dispatched to the scene of the accident and were able to successfully pull each crash victim from their respective vehicles. The 18-year-old driver of the Nissan Versa and his 44-year-old female passenger were transported to a local hospital with severe life-threatening injuries and both crash victims passed away shortly upon arrival.
The 22-year-old driver of the Ford Mustang was taken to AdventHealth East Orlando in serious condition and the pedestrian was transported to the Orlando Regional Medical Center with severe, but non-life-threatening injuries.
This area was closed for several hours so investigators with the Florida Highway Patrol could gather information and potential evidence while accident clean-up crews removed the large amounts of debris that was left behind after the collision occurred.
No official charges have been filed against anyone involved in this auto accident, however, that status could certainly change depending on the outcome of the investigation and whether or not the crash victims survive their current injuries. Further information is expected to be released to the public at the conclusion of this case.
