Single-Car Crash in Ocala Kills Passenger

By Orlando Personal Injury Attorney on May 2, 2020

A car crash that took place inside of Ocala on Sunday, April 26th, remained under investigation several days after the event as members of the Ocala Police Department worked to discover just what took place to cause the fatal incident. Reports from the Ocala Police Department suggested that the incident occurred sometime during the morning on Sunday, although many of the articles written from the reports failed to state at what exact time the Sunday crash happened.

The reports did indicate that only a single car was involved and that this car was being driven by an individual who was not named or described in any way. Inside of the car with the driver was a 30-year-old Ocala resident.

We do not currently know whether or not the investigative authorities believe if alcohol, speed, distractions, or some other feature within the roadway caused the crash itself, but it is clear that the driver lost control of the vehicle while they were traveling along Northeast 28th Street’s 1800 block. The preliminary reports did not mention just what it was that the car crashed into or whether or not the vehicle overturned after the impact. It was also not revealed whether or not either of the people within the vehicle were wearing seatbelts at the time of the incident.

It is believed that additional reports on the incident will be issued for the public as the investigation continues, although at the time of this writing no such reports have yet emerged from the Ocala Police Department.

Following the crash, 911 was called and various first responders were rushed to the area where the impact took place. When they reached the car and the two individuals, they began to treat them both for injuries. It is believed that the injuries of the passenger far outweighed those of the driver. The reports did not indicate whether or not this person was alive when the first responders reached the area or if they were taken to a hospital for treatment. We do know that they were ultimately declared dead as a result of the injuries they sustained in the crash.

The driver, who also suffered from injuries in the incident, was taken to a hospital and treated. The authorities indicated that this person’s injuries were not, in fact, life threatening.
