Seven-Year-Old Child Badly Injured in Pine Hills Crash

By Orlando Personal Injury Attorney on October 10, 2018

An incident that took place on Wednesday, October 3rd, in the town of Pine Hills in Orange County, resulted in a 7-year-old child suffering from injuries that were described in the initial report as being severe. Because the incident is still under investigation, many of the details concerning just what happened, why, and who might be responsible are not confirmed. What we do know is that the auto accident happened sometime after 5:00 in the evening and that it involved the above-mentioned child as well as a 33-year-old driving a four-door Hyundai.

The child was walking along Pine Hills Road shortly before the accident itself. It is not clear if the child was alone at the time or if they were walking with a parent, guardian, or someone else. Before reaching the intersection of Silver Star Road, the child decided to attempt and cross the street. It is not clear if the area where the child tried to cross features any sort of pedestrian safety zone such as a crosswalk or if the child simply began to wander across the street without paying any heed to the surrounding traffic.

At the same time as the young person was making their way across Pine Hills Road, a 33-year-old driving a four-door Hyundai approached the area. It is not clear if the driver of this car saw the child before striking them, and, if so, if the driver was able to brake and avoid striking the child directly. Ultimately, the car did collide with the young person and did inflict serious injuries upon them; however, based on the fact that the child did not die in the incident it seems plausible that the driver was able to deflect some of the impact in the seconds leading up to the crash itself.

Paramedics and EMTs arrived on the scene and began to attend to the young pedestrian. The driver of the car also remained at the scene and cooperated with police during the initial investigation. The medical personnel who responded took the child via ambulance to Arnold Palmer Hospital for Children, where he received a significant amount of medical attention. It is not known whether or not the child is still at the hospital or if he was released following treatment and observation.
