Pedestrian Struck and Killed During A Collision in Orange County
Although several details surrounding this fatal incident have yet to be determined, local authorities have indicated that one person lost their life last Friday evening during a pedestrian accident on John Young Parkway in Orange County.
Initial collision reports from the troopers with the Florida Highway Patrol who were dispatched to the scene of the crash said that it was close to 10:15 p.m. on July 15, 2022, when a driver behind the wheel of a Cadillac DeVille was traveling in the southbound direction of John Young Parkway. As the driver of the Cadillac, whose name hasn’t been released, approached the intersection of John Young Parkway and Old Winter Garden Road, a pedestrian stepped out onto the roadway in an attempt to cross the street and was struck by the oncoming Cadillac DeVille.
Multiple Orange County law enforcement agencies including officers with the Florida Highway Patrol were sent to the accident site to assist the individuals involved in the deadly collision. The driver of the Cadillac did not sustain any injuries during the incident, however, it was clear that the pedestrian had suffered severe, life-threatening injuries and was immediately rushed to the nearest hospital for further emergency treatment. The victim was sadly unable to survive and they passed away at the medical facility.
The Orange County medical examiner is currently trying to figure out the identity of the pedestrian accident victim. It is presumed that additional information regarding this tragic collision will be made public once their next-of-kin has been notified of their loved one’s death.
Since the pedestrian was walking across the street outside of the designated crosswalk area, it is unknown if formal charges will be filed against the driver of the Cadillac DeVille, who remained at the scene after the collision occurred and has been in full cooperation with the investigation.
