Orange County Tour Bus Crash Kills 30-Year-Old Man from Orlando

By Orlando Personal Injury Attorney on January 19, 2022

Investigators with the Florida Highway Patrol are currently working to determine the chain of events that led to the death of an Orlando man who was fatally injured during an accident with a tour bus along State Road 417 near International Drive.

According to local Orange County authorities, it was approximately 5:50 a.m. on January 18. 2022, when a 30-year-old man from Orlando and three other individuals found themselves stranded on the right-hand side of S.R. 417 close to mile marker 6 after their Chevy Tahoe suffered a yet-to-be-determined malfunction. The man exited the SUV and attempted to push the vehicle down the busy highway and as he was doing so, a tour bus entered the area and crashed into the Tahoe and the Orlando resident. The impact from the collision was so forceful that it propelled the sport utility vehicle into the nearby guardrail.

Emergency response teams in Orange County, as well as officers with the Florida Highway Patrol, were all dispatched to the site of the accident soon after the first set of 9-1-1 calls were received. Despite their best medical training and efforts, there was nothing that the EMTs could do for the 30-year-old victim, and he passed away at the scene. A 28-year-old woman and two toddlers, who were passengers of the disabled Chevy Tahoe, sustained minor injuries during the deadly collision and were transported in stable condition to Orlando Health and Arnold Palmer Hospital.

The tour bus was unoccupied at the time of the auto accident, except for the 56-year-old driver from Kissimmee, who was unharmed in the crash.

This case is still under investigation by the Florida Highway Patrol. No charges have been filed at this time.
