Orange County Resident Dies after Crashing into S.R. 528 Median

By Orlando Personal Injury Attorney on April 14, 2019

A 57-year-old Orange County resident died earlier this month when the car they were driving collided with a barrier located along the central dividing median of State Road 528. Early reports from the Florida Highway Patrol provided the public with little information regarding the reasons behind the incident, but they did suggest that the fatal car crash was still under investigation and that further reports on the incident in question might be expected.

What we knew after those early reports were issued is that it was sometime on Saturday, April 6th, that the 57-year-old man was driving their car down the western lanes of State Road 528. The reports did not indicate what sort of vehicle the man was driving or what time it was that the incident took place. What we do know is that the car being driven by the 57-year-old was the only one involved in the incident.

Perhaps the most important thing that remains unknown is what exactly took place to cause the driver of the vehicle in question to lose control. The report states that while traveling westbound on S.R. 528 the car suddenly departed from the roadway and began to travel down the grass median. It was while the car was traveling down this median that it collided with a barrier located in the grass that divides the westbound lanes from the eastbound lanes. It is possible that had the barrier not been present the 57-year-old driver would have continued into the eastern lanes of S.R. 528, possibly resulting in a head-on collision with another vehicle.

As it was, the car struck the median hard enough to stop. The force of the collision also resulted in the driver suffering from fairly severe injuries. Emergency response crews were called to the scene, and the individual was pulled from the badly mangled vehicle. He was then loaded into an ambulance and rushed to a nearby hospital. Unfortunately, the severity of his injuries prevented the doctors and nurses working within the hospital from saving his life. He was declared dead sometime after being admitted to the emergency medical center.
