New England Patriots Super Bowl Champion Loses Father in South Florida Car Crash

By Orlando Personal Injury Attorney on October 2, 2020

It was a sad evening in Seattle this weekend as New England Patriots running back James White learned that both of his parents had been involved in a deadly auto accident in South Florida, and that his father had not survived. According to preliminary collision reports from the Broward County Sheriff’s Office, the fatal crash involved two vehicles and occurred early Sunday afternoon along Griffin Road in Cooper City, Florida.

Shortly before the start of this week’s Sunday Night Football mega-matchup between the New England Patriots and the Seattle Seahawks on Sunday, September 27th, 2020, it was revealed to the public that the father of 3-time Super Bowl champion James White had been killed and his mother was severely injured after their involvement in a car crash in southern Florida. White was in the middle of his team’s workout preparations for the highly-anticipated game when he was informed of the tragic incident. He had been surprisingly removed from the starting roster and placed on the inactive list earlier in the day, noted sports analysts, but it wasn’t until the news broke that they fully understood the situation.

Deputies with the Broward County Sheriff’s Office were dispatched to the 11800 block of Griffin Road at approximately 1 p.m. Sunday afternoon to find one vehicle ablaze and that one vehicle had rolled over from the impact of the collision. Rescuers immediately extinguished the fire and began to tend to the injured occupants of both vehicles. Two of the injured individuals were rushed to local hospitals, with both of them requiring transportation from the Broward County Air Rescue. Sadly, the third victim, identified as Miami-Dade Police Captain Tyrone White, was unable to survive the severity of his injuries and he passed away at the scene.

At the time of this writing, White’s mother remains in critical condition, and authorities have yet to disclose additional details regarding the other victim of the accident or what the exact cause of the collision is believed to be. ESPN and NBC have reported that Robert Kraft, owner of the New England Patriots, generously offered to fly White back to Miami to be with his family, but that White decided to remain in Seattle and depart with his team after the game.
