RSSLocal Authorities Searching for State Road 50 Hit-and-Run Driver
Troopers with the Florida Highway Patrol are asking for the public’s assistance this morning as they continue their search for the driver of an SUV who was involved in a multi-vehicle collision that severely injured a pedestrian and several others along State Road 50 near downtown Orlando.
According to auto accident reports from the Florida Highway Patrol, it was approximately 1:05 p.m. on Tuesday, June 13, 2023, when troopers were dispatched to the intersection of Paul Street and State Road 50, known locally as Colonial Drive, in response to a five-vehicle collision with multiple injuries.
Although certain specific details surrounding the multi-vehicle crash are still under investigation, Orange County authorities have indicated that they are now looking for the driver of a white Dodge Durango that was recorded by traffic cams fleeing the scene of the accident immediately after it occurred. Video footage showed minor damage and black scuff marks on the front of the sport utility vehicle.
Local emergency response teams transported the occupants of one crashed car – a driver and two teenagers – to a nearby hospital for treatment of minor injuries. Several others were treated at the scene by EMTs for minor injuries.
A driver of another vehicle, a 19-year-old woman from Orlando, was also taken to the hospital in serious condition. Lastly, a 64-year-old woman from Tavares, who was a pedestrian at the time of the accident, suffered life-threatening injuries and was transported to the closest medical facility. The current conditions of these two victims are unknown.
