Head-On Car Crash Kills Two on State Road 60 in Osceola County
According to preliminary crash reports from troopers with the Florida Highway Patrol working within Osceola County, two individuals were killed yesterday morning during a head-on collision on State Road 60 near Kenansville.
It was approximately 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, January 19, 2023, when a family of four from Miami were driving in the eastbound direction of State Road 60 in a black Nissan Altima. As the sedan, carrying one adult passenger, two small children, and a 22-year-old driver approached the intersection with Peavine Road, it merged into the westbound lane of S.R. 60 in order to pass a slower-moving vehicle. This positioned the Nissan Altima in the direct path of an oncoming red Mazda SUV. Neither motorist was able to avoid a collision, and the two vehicles crashed into one another head-on.
The impact from the auto accident caused the Nissan Altima to spin out of control and rollover before finally coming to a rest along the side of the road. Shortly after the first incident occurred, another sedan and a green Toyota Tacoma collided with the debris from the crash. The occupants of these two vehicles were unharmed.
Florida Highway Patrol troopers and Osceola County first responders were dispatched to the scene of the head-on crash and sadly discovered that the 22-year-old driver of the Nissan Altima and her 4-month-old niece sustained fatal injuries during the accident. The adult female passenger and a 1-year-old girl were transported to a local hospital with critical injuries.
The driver and passenger of the Mazda SUV also suffered life-threatening injuries and were taken to a nearby emergency medical facility. They are currently in stable, but serious condition.
This auto accident is currently under investigation. No further details have been released at this time.
