Five Hospitalized After Four Car Crash in Orlando
An auto accident that happened within Orlando in Orange County resulted in the injury of at least five people early in July. Currently, the incident remains under investigation and no individual or individuals have been named as being primarily responsible for the event.
It was sometime around 2:00 in the morning on Friday, July 3rd when four separate vehicles were traveling along Colonial Drive and Hiawassee Road. The reports from members of the Florida Highway Patrol working within Orange County suggested that at least one of the cars was carrying passengers as well as its driver. It is possible that the other vehicles were also carrying passengers. It was when the cars reached the intersection of Colonial Drive and Hiawassee Road that something went wrong. Because the incident remains under investigation, the authorities have yet to offer any information on what exactly happened, however we do have unofficial testimony from a passenger within one of the vehicles. According to this person, the intersection is controlled by a traffic light. When one of the drivers reached this red light, they either failed to see the light or believed that they were still safe to pass through. While not confirmed, this explanation would make sense given the amount of damage and the number of vehicles involved.
Because drivers are taught to obey the lights controlling intersections, they are not expecting others to operate their vehicles in such a way as to challenge the authority of the light. When a driver runs a red light, it can cause havoc within the line of cross traffic. It is possible that just such an occurrence resulted in the four-vehicle crash that took place in early July.
Members of the Orange County Fire Rescue were among those who responded to the reports of the crash. When they reached the intersection they found that each of the vehicles involved held at least one seriously injured individual. After administering immediate emergency medical treatment, the OCFR transported some of these individuals to Orlando Regional Medical Center as well as Advent Health Orlando.
The current condition of the individuals remains unknown, and the investigation remains ongoing.
