Fatal Crash in Marion County Goes Entire Night Before Being Noticed
The reasons behind a crash that took place in Marion County on Sunday, November 29th, remain unclear even as an investigation into the incident remains vigorous and ongoing. Reports from the Florida Highway Patrol in Marion County have indicated that the fatal auto accident is believed to have taken place sometime close to 10:00 on the night in question, when a 21-year-old individual was driving their vehicle down Southwest 5 Place.
The area of this intersection is remarkably remote, and at the time when the 21-year-old was driving through the area there were no other vehicles in the area. This is of great importance to the investigation, as the authorities are attempting to figure out what exactly happened to cause the young driver to lose control of their vehicle.
The driver was nearing the intersection between Southwest 5 Place and Southwest 210 Avenue in the town of Dunnellon. This intersection is governed by a regulation sized stop sign, but the driver apparently failed to see the sign or had already begun to undergo some sort of experience that rendered him unable to see the sign. As they sped through the intersection, the 21-year-old had apparently already lost control of the vehicle. Instead of staying on the roadway, they allowed the car to travel away from the paved lanes and onto a shoulder along the western side of the road. Growing along this shoulder at some distance from the roadway was a tree of modest size. The driver, still out of control, was not able to avoid this tree and the car struck it while traveling at a considerable rate of speed.
The 21-year-old was not wearing a seatbelt at the time of the incident, a fact which very possibly contributed to the extreme injuries that the person sustained as a result of the crash.
After the crash occurred, the wreck remained unnoticed and unreported for the entire night. It was not until around 7:00 the next morning that someone notified the police or an officer happened through the area. When emergency medical crews reached the crash it was too late to aid the 21-year-old driver. They were declared dead at the scene.
