Driver Killed During Rollover Crash at South Florida Car Dealership
A popular dealership in South Florida was left in a state of destruction & disarray earlier this morning after a car went airborne and crashed into several vehicles on their lot located along U.S. Highway 441 in Miami Gardens.
According to incident reports from the responding authorities with the Miami Gardens Police Department, it was shortly before 3:15 a.m. on Wednesday March 15, 2023, when a 21-year-old yet-to-be-identified female was behind the wheel of a gray Toyota Camry driving by the William Lehman car dealership on U.S. Highway 441.
As she approached the area just south of the County Line Road intersection, her vehicle struck the center median which caused the small sedan to spin out-of-control across all lanes of traffic. The Toyota Camry then entered the dealership’s parking lot where it slammed into five parked cars that were on display. This secondary collision caused the Camry to rollover onto its roof while simultaneously ejecting the 21-year-old from the vehicle in the process.
Multiple Miami Gardens emergency vehicles response teams were dispatched to the William Lehman dealership, as well as officers with the local police department. The 21-year-old driver of the Toyota Camry sustained fatal injuries as a result of the crash and died at the scene. No one else was harmed during this collision.
The crash site and surrounding areas were closed for over five hours while accident clean-up crews removed trash and debris.
“I’ve been here about 20-25 years, I’ve seen maybe 6-7 accidents with the cars on the lot, but this is by far the worst,” said Greg Major, who is employed by the dealership.
This auto accident is currently under investigation and the name of the victim has not been released due to privacy laws.
Although the exact cause for this collision has yet to be determined, there are several possibilities to take into consideration. The driver of the car could have suffered some sort of medical episode or the vehicle itself could have malfunctioned. It is also possible, unfortunately, that the victim could have been under the influence of alcohol or distracted by a cell phone. Additional details are expected to be released at the conclusion of this case.
