Devastating Crash in Orange County Kills Two and Injures One
Members of the Florida Highway Patrol working within Orange County were among the numerous first responders to the scene of a crash that happened within the county towards the beginning of November. Reports from the FHP stated that the incident involved at least two vehicles and resulted in at least two fatalities as well as one person hospitalized with serious injuries.
The collision between the vehicles happened early in the morning, reportedly before 6:00. Shortly before the accident, an 18-year-old Orlando resident was behind the wheel of a car and traveling down the southern lane of Econlockhatchee Trail. In the passenger seat of the car with this person was another 18-year-old. It is not known where the two were coming from or going, but in the moments before the accident occurred they were closing in on the intersection between Econlockhatchee Trail and Curry Ford Road.
Shortly before reaching the intersection, something happened within the vehicle to cause the 18-year-old driver to swerve out of the southbound lanes and into the northbound ones. It is possible that such an incident would not have had such devastating consequences, but at the exact time that the 18-year-old lost control of their vehicle and swerved into the opposite lanes another driver, a 30-year-old from Orlando, was behind the wheel of a car headed down Econlockhatchee’s northern lanes.
Neither the 30-year-old driver nor the 18-year-old were able to avoid one another when their cars began traveling on a collision course, and this resulted in the two vehicles slamming into one another while still traveling at an advanced rate of speed.
Emergency response crews were called into the scene immediately after the auto accident took place, and they began to administer emergency medical care to all involved. Two of the people, the 18-year-old passenger and the 30-year-old driver, were extremely injured as a result of the crash. We know that the 18-year-old was transported from the scene to a nearby hospital and that they were later declared dead. The 30-year-old was also declared dead as a result of their injuries.
The 18-year-old driver was not killed as a result of the crash, but they were seriously injured and taken to a hospital. It is believed that charges are currently pending against this individual.
