Car Overturns and Crashes into Sumter County Church, Killing Driver
A car accident within Lady Lake this past Tuesday resulted in the death of a single individual, so say reports from the Florida Highway Patrol. According to this law enforcement organization, the incident began sometime during Tuesday, May 5th. The precise time of the accident was not included in the initial reports, and we are not currently informed as to what the timeline of the incident looked like.
We do know that a 21-year-old individual was alone inside of a vehicle and traveling down the northern lanes of County Road 100 when they began to draw near to County Road 100B. It is not clear if the driver of the car planned on turning off of County Road 100 and onto County Road 100B or if perhaps something within the cab of the vehicle caused the individual to become distracted, but the reports indicated that the 21-year-old lost control of the vehicle at around this time.
Before they managed to regain control of the car, they shot off of the roadway, spun out, and then began to overturn. It is not clear how many times the car flipped as it made its way across the ground, but we know that it was more than once. We also know that a church, Elder Mary Newsome Hudson Church, is located in the same area that the crash took place. Standing at 10456 County Road 100B, the church was situated precisely in the path of the oncoming car. As it rolled, the vehicle made its way closer and closer to the church, eventually coming to rest only after it crashed into the large building.
The driver of the car suffered from severe injuries as a result of the incident. It is not clear who notified the authorities as to the crash, but when they arrived, paramedics and EMTs did what they could to tend to the injuries suffered by the driver. Again, it is believed that they were alone in the car at the time of the incident.
Ultimately, the emergency medical response teams were forced to declare the young man dead at the scene of the crash. No other information about the incident has yet to be released.
