Car Crashes into Lauderdale Lakes Dominos, Driver Dies in Hospital

By Orlando Personal Injury Attorney on May 4, 2020

A violent crash resulted in a single fatality in Lauderdale Lakes during the last days of April, leaving members of the Broward Sheriff’s Office in the middle of an investigation into just what happened to cause the incident in the first place. Reports from the Broward Sheriff’s Office indicated that the event began sometime during the night of Wednesday, April 29th. At the time of this writing, it is not believed that anyone was inside of the car other than the driver, a 58-year-old Florida resident. The reports did not indicate where the driver lived, where they were coming from, or where they were headed.

The 58-year-old woman was behind the wheel of a car and traveling down the western lanes of a primary roadway within Lauderdale Lakes when something happened to cause them to lose control of the vehicle. It is not clear if witnesses to the event reported on the car’s movements to the authorities or if the deputies themselves were able to piece the car’s trajectory back together using details from the surrounding environment. It does seem clear that the driver was not able to regain control of the vehicle before it swerved totally off of the road.

After departing from the roadway, the car then struck a concrete curb, further jolting the wheel out of the driver’s hands. It then traveled through a field of unknown size before entering the property of a shopping center located somewhere near to the road where the driver had been traveling before losing control of their car. The car then struck a trash bin belonging to one of the businesses in the shopping center before crashing into a Dominos located in the center.

The force of the collision caused the driver to suffer from severe injuries. Paramedics and EMTs were among the numerous first responders to the scene, and they rushed to the car in order to begin treating the badly wounded driver. The 58-year-old was taken from the scene and rushed to a nearby hospital where doctors and nurses began the process of attempting to save her life. Ultimately, the injuries that the driver sustained after crashing into the pizza place proved unsurpassable. They were declared dead sometime after arriving at the emergency medical center.
