RSSBroward County Crash Results in Several Fatalities
Authorities within the city of Tamarac are investigating a two-car collision that happened on the morning of Thursday, May 28th and resulted in several fatalities. Currently, what we know is that it was sometime around 4:30 in the morning when a pickup truck and a silver sedan were traveling along either Rock Island Road or West Commercial Boulevard. The crash took place at the intersection of these two streets and resulted in two of the people involved being pronounced dead at the scene. The precise number of individuals involved in the crash is not currently clear.
When the calls began to reach the offices of dispatchers within Broward County, the Broward County Sheriff’s Office immediately sent deputies to the scene. Along with the deputies were members of the Tamarac Fire Rescue service. These officials rushed to the intersection of Rock Island Road and West Commercial boulevard with the knowledge that they were headed to a serious collision with possible injuries.
Pictures from the scene show the pickup truck pulled off to the side of the road, its front end mangled slightly. The silver sedan, its rear end smashed and disfigured, lies on its side in between several utility poles. All along the asphalt are objects believed to have come from within the trunk of the sedan, but also debris from both of the cars.
It is not clear exactly what happened to cause the collision, and authorities are currently still investigating the events in order to determine whether or not anyone in particular shoulders the largest portion of blame. We do know that there were four people within the sedan, and when authorities arrived they were forced to immediately declare two of these individuals dead at the scene. The other two were transported from the scene of the crash to Broward Health Medical Center. Their current condition is not known, but it is believed that they were seriously injured in the crash.
The driver of the pickup truck was also transported from the scene to Broward Health Medical Center. His condition is not believed to be serious, although no further updates to the story have confirmed this.
None of the identities of the people involved have yet been released.
