7 Injured, 3 Killed in Polk County Crash

By Orlando Personal Injury Attorney on March 18, 2016

In a tragic car accident in Poinciana, FL on Saturday, February 6th, 2016, three children were killed and seven people were injured. The accident occurred on Saturday evening when the driver of a 2001 Lincoln lost control of the vehicle and crashed head-on into a 2014 Jeep Patriot. Both vehicles were carrying five people each at the time of the crash.

Of those individuals in the Lincoln, a six-year-old boy who had been sitting in the backseat was killed. The other two children from the backseat of the Lincoln were hospitalized, but were found to be in good condition the next day. The adult driver of the Lincoln was also hospitalized and was still in critical condition as of Sunday, February 7th, while the adult passenger improved to stable condition.

The Jeep that was struck was also carrying children, including a 6-year-old and an 8-year-old who were killed in the crash. The 15-year-old minor who was also in the backseat was hospitalized in serious condition. As in the Lincoln, the adult driver of the Jeep was hospitalized and still in critical condition as of February 7th, while the adult passenger had improved to stable condition.

No details have been released yet as to the cause of the crash, or whether authorities suspect the Lincoln driver of any negligence or impairment. Florida Highway Patrol officers are still investigating the accident, and it is uncertain whether any charges have been or will be filed on behalf of the victims in the Jeep that was struck.
