Woman Hospitalized After Semi-Truck Crash in Orange County

By Orlando Personal Injury Attorney on September 20, 2020

A woman was hospitalized with critical injuries after a collision that happened during the early days of September involving a Ford Mustang and a delivery truck working for the popular supermarket chain, Publix. The crash took place within Orange County, and members of the Orange County Fire Rescue were among the numerous first responders. Their reports on the crash provide us with much of the knowledge we currently have regarding the situation. Along with their written description of the incident, the OCFR posted pictures of the crash to their official Twitter page.

Leading up to the crash, a black Ford Mustang was traveling down the western lanes of State Road 528. At the same time, the semi-truck delivering goods for Publix was driving down the same roadway. What exactly happened is not entirely clear at this time, but as the Ford Mustang and the Publix delivery truck neared one another, it appears that an event took place to cause one or both drivers to lose control of their vehicles. It is also possible that one or both drivers failed to notice the presence of the other vehicle and attempted to merge into a lane already occupied.

Regardless of the actual reasons behind the crash, the end result was that the black Ford Mustang became wedged underneath the Publix delivery vehicle. The pictures show that the much smaller car was almost completely crushed underneath the body of the semi-truck. Only the trunk of the Mustang remained out from underneath the semi, and it is somewhat remarkable that the driver of the Mustang was able to escape from the incident alive at all.

As it was, she suffered from extremely severe injuries and was transported to a hospital as a trauma alert patient.

It is not believed that anyone else was within the Mustang at the time of the crash. The driver of the semi-truck was not injured in the incident, and no other vehicles were involved. An investigation into the crash remains ongoing as police and other investigative organizations work to uncover what took place to cause the two vehicles to collide with one another.
