Two Pedestrians Killed in Ocoee Crash

By Orlando Personal Injury Attorney on November 6, 2018

Police within the Ocoee Police Department are working on an investigation into the deaths of two individuals on Friday, November 2nd. Reports that were released shortly after the fatal pedestrian accident occurred provide us with the most up-to-date information regarding the incident, however it is still an accident that is under investigation and many of the conclusions are not yet known or are being withheld from the general public until such time as the next of kin are notified and/or the authorities believe it prudent to release additional facts.

It was just before 11:00 on Friday night when two individuals were walking near to Silver Star Road. The reports did not indicate if the pedestrians were walking along the road’s sidewalk or if they were walking along the shoulder. It is also possible that the pedestrians were walking down the roadway itself, a fact which would drastically change the focus and scope of the investigation.

Shortly after the intersection between Silver Star Road and North Cumberland Avenue, a car that was traveling down Silver Star Road reached the area where the pedestrians were walking. Again, it is not known if the two individuals on foot were attempting to cross the roadway or if they were merely walking along or standing near to the asphalt at the time. The driver of the car, for reasons that are not clear, either failed to see the two pedestrians or believed themselves to be further away from the individuals than he happened to be. As a result, the car struck the two pedestrians.

It is not clear who called the emergency crews in to tend to the badly injured pedestrians, but EMTs and paramedics rushed to the area to try and assist those who needed it. Sadly, due to the severity of the collision, neither of the two pedestrians were able to be saved by the emergency medical teams. Both were pronounced dead at the scene.

The reports failed to mention whether or not the driver of the car involved remained at the scene to aid the investigators in their preliminary work or if the police are currently looking for them.
