Three Teen Pedestrians Killed in North Miami Crash

By Orlando Personal Injury Attorney on May 29, 2019

A horrifying and tragic event took place in North Miami over this past weekend that has left a community mourning the loss of three teenage children who were killed. The reports from police working within North Miami as well as from the Miami Herald stated that the fatal pedestrian accident remains very much under investigation. What we currently know is very little, and the reports issued so far do not provide many pieces of information other than the barest facts of the case.

It all started on the morning of Saturday, May 25th, with three individuals from the Little Haiti Football Club standing on a sidewalk in North Miami as they waited for a bus that was to take them to a soccer tournament. It is not clear if the bus coming to collect them already contained the rest of the team or if the various individuals going to the tournament were all arriving via separate transportation methods.

The three young people were aged 13, 15, and 17. It is not clear if they were all on the same team or how they all happened to be waiting at the same place together.

While they were standing on the sidewalk, a car approached the area. Little was included in the report about either the car or its driver. We do not know if there was only one person in the car or if the driver was joined by one or more passengers. We do not know if the driver was speeding or if alcohol or other inebriating substances played any role in the incident. What we do know is that as the driver of the car reached the area where the three teenagers were waiting on the sidewalk, something happened to cause the driver to swerve off of the roadway.

Before the driver managed to pull the vehicle back onto the road, it drove onto the sidewalk and struck all three of the teenagers. It is not known if any of the three were alive when paramedics and EMTs reached the area, but we do know that they were declared dead as a result of the injuries they sustained.

The driver of the car was also seriously injured and was transported to a nearby hospital for treatment. The cause of the crash remains under investigation.
