Pedestrian Seriously Injured in Tampa Accident

By Orlando Personal Injury Attorney on December 21, 2019

An accident involving pedestrians inside of Tampa early in December resulted in at least one individual suffering from serious injuries. Much of the events leading up to the incident remain unknown, and police working within Tampa are continuing to investigate the incident in the hopes of uncovering more information regarding the circumstances and, ultimately, the culpability of certain parties in relation to the incident.

At the time of this writing, we know that it was during the weekend of Saturday, December 7th, that a pedestrian was walking along Hillsborough Avenue and Armenia Avenue within the city of Tampa. It is not clear if the pedestrian was using the sidewalk at this time or if they were perhaps walking within the roadway. The reports did not mention which direction the pedestrian was headed down the road.

Most importantly, the reports failed to state whether or not the pedestrian was attempting to cross the road at the time of the incident and, if so, whether or not they were inside of a crosswalk. Information like this is imperative in pedestrian incidents as it can immediately redirect the focus of the investigation one way or another. If, for instance, the pedestrian was not inside of a crosswalk but was attempting nevertheless to cross the road, then the investigators will want to uncover what caused the pedestrian to attempt to cross at that particular point. If, on the other hand, the pedestrian was indeed inside of a crosswalk, and if they had a walk signal, then the investigation will focus on what was happening within the cab of the car in the moments before the incident to cause the driver to be unaware of the changing road conditions and the presence of the pedestrian.

Currently, what we know is that the pedestrian was struck at the intersection by a car that was not described in the report. The names of the pedestrian and the driver of the car were also not released.

Paramedics and EMTs rushed to the scene of the crash and began to treat the badly injured pedestrian. They were taken from the crash site to a nearby hospital for treatment of serious injuries. It is not believed that the driver of the car sustained any injuries in the incident.
