Pedestrian Killed By Person Driving Ford F-250 in Marion County

By Orlando Personal Injury Attorney on September 4, 2018

On Thursday, August 30th, a 28-year-old man from Willison was behind the wheel of large and cumbersome Ford F-250 truck as he made his way down County Road 318 in Marion County. Reports from the Florida Highway Patrol suggest that the fatal pedestrian accident took place close to the area called North West 67 Court. At the same time, the person who was driving the Ford, a 31-year-old individual, who was not identified other than to state his age, was walking along this same roadway.

Reports failed to make clear whether or not the area of the incident features a sidewalk or other pedestrian area or if the person on foot was simply walking along the road’s shoulder or, as is possible, if they were walking down the center of the road itself.

It was close to 11:15 when the paths’ of these two individuals crossed. The driver of the Ford failed to see the pedestrian or was otherwise taken by surprise by the individual’s appearance and was then unable to swerve out of the way. The large truck struck the man on foot, inflicting severe damage on them.

Emergency services were contacted, most likely by the driver of the Ford, and soon there were numerous first response teams on the site including paramedics, EMTs, police, and fire & rescue teams. Emergency response individuals on the scene attempted to help the pedestrian, but the damage inflicted upon this person as a result of being struck by the massive civilian vehicle was too widespread and serious for the medical teams to treat. They were declared dead at the scene of the incident.

As is common in cases such as this, the driver of the large truck was not at all injured as a result of the crash.

The incident is still under investigation as authorities look to uncover just why the pedestrian decided to cross the road at that time and, also, why the driver of the vehicle failed to see them and react is such a way as to prevent the Ford from striking the person and killing them.
