Pedestrian in Marion County in Critical Condition After Collision
A collision between a car and a pedestrian in Marion County that took place sometime on Saturday, June 29th, has left at least one person inside of a hospital, fighting for their life as the medical teams attempt to stabilize injuries that were deemed critical in the moments following the pedestrian accident. Reports from the Florida Highway Patrol working within Marion County indicated that the accident took place along Southwest 140th Avenue. The crash did not happen near an intersection, and the pedestrian involved was not attempting to cross the road.
According to the reports, pedestrian involved had been inside of their own vehicle when something happened to cause their car to become disabled. It is not clear if the driver of this car managed to pull their vehicle over to the side of the road or if the car remained disabled within a lane of travel.
The driver of this disabled car then exited their vehicle. It is not clear if there was anyone with them inside of the car at the time or if they were alone. It is also not clear if this person had called emergency services, AAA, or someone else to come assist them with their disabled car. It is not clear what time of day the incident took place, and so at the time of this writing we are not entirely certain whether or not the driver was visible after exiting the vehicle or if they were doused in shadows.
After the driver of the disabled car left their car, another vehicle approached the scene. The driver of this second car either failed to see the stopped vehicle, the pedestrian, or both, and subsequently crashed into the rear of the disabled vehicle. As a result of this collision, the pedestrian was also struck by either their own car or by the second car. The force of this collision caused the pedestrian to suffer from critical injuries, and when emergency medical teams reached they area they quickly rushed the person to Ocala Regional Medical Center. The driver of the second car as well as a passenger within this car were transported from the crash site to West Marion Hospital where they were treated for minor injuries.
