Melbourne Police Investigating Deadly Accident Involving Pedestrian

By Orlando Personal Injury Attorney on August 29, 2019

After the night of Friday, August 23rd, police and detectives working within the city of Melbourne were working together to investigate a pedestrian accident that took place along North Harbor City Boulevard and resulted in the death of an individual. In the initial reports on the incident, not many of the details were available. Even now, it is not entirely clear just what happened to result in the fatal crash involving a car and a pedestrian.

As is often the case, the lack of information supplied to the public in this case is a direct comment on the amount of information held by the police and other authorities. In short, at the time of this writing it appears that not much about the circumstances of the crash are known to the authorities, and that the ongoing investigation is being conducted in an attempt to diminish the number of unknowns to a more manageable sphere.

What we can be certain of at this particular time is that the pedestrian was an adult and that they were walking either along North Harbor City Boulevard or attempting to cross this road. Another roadway, Parkway Drive, was cited as being close to the location of the crash, but this does not clarify whether or not it was at the intersection of North Harbor City Boulevard and Parkway Drive that the accident took place or if it was simply close to this intersection without actually being within it. The difference is that often intersections of this sort will feature pedestrian crossing zones of some sort, something that will dramatically affect the focus of the investigation and the charges that await the driver of the car involved.

Regarding this driver, the initial reports were not clear on whether or not the individual stopped after the collision took place or if they fled the scene. Again, the difference between the two outcomes will make a significant impact on whether or not the person behind the wheel of the car is facing severe charges against them.

It is believed that the investigation is ongoing, and any meaningful updates will appear on this blog as well as other sources of news throughout Florida.
