Kissimmee Woman Killed in Bizarre Pedestrian Accident on Interstate 4
An investigation is currently ongoing by the Florida Highway Patrol operating within Orange County after a deadly pedestrian accident claimed the life of a 30-year-old Kissimmee woman early Friday morning. Preliminary crash reports from the FHP indicate that the victim was a passenger in a vehicle that was driving along the eastbound lanes of Interstate 4 when the driver pulled the car over to the side of the busy interstate. The female victim then exited the vehicle after an altercation with the driver and walked out into the path of an oncoming tractor-trailer.
It was shortly after midnight on September 25th, 2020, when authorities with the Orlando Police Department and the Florida Highway Patrol first started to receive emergency calls regarding a possible fatal collision between a semi-truck and pedestrian. According to responding officers, the 30-year-old victim and a 27-year-old man (who was driving at the time) were traveling down the eastern lanes of Interstate 4 when they unexpectedly parked their vehicle on the shoulder of the road near mile mark 68. Orange County Sheriff’s deputies said that the two individuals were engaged in an argument when the 30-year-old passenger allegedly broke a bottle that was in the car and proceeded to stab her male companion with the sharpened object. Immediately after injuring the vehicle’s driver, she left the car and began to walk down the east side of the interstate. Shortly after leaving the safety of the passenger seat, she was struck and killed by an eastbound big rig.
A witness statement retrieved from the semi-truck driver details that he was unaware of the victim at the time of the crash, and that since the events all happened so quickly, he was unable to stop his 18-wheeler in time to avoid a collision with the Kissimmee woman. EMTs and other medical personnel did everything in their power to save the female victim, but due to the severity of her injuries, she was pronounced dead at the scene. The male stabbing victim was transported to a local hospital, but his injuries are currently unknown at this time. The driver of the tractor-trailer was uninjured in the collision and remained at the accident site while the authorities conducted their investigations.
