An early morning wrong way crash on Florida’s Interstate 4 left one dead and shut down parts of the eastbound lanes for several hours. The crash happened near mile marker 33 and the ramp to US Highway 98 North.
Three Year Old Left Parentless following Tampa Accident
A 35 year old male suspect is in custody after having run away from the scene of a deadly Tampa, Florida car crash that happened Sunday night on North 34th Street and East Lake Avenue. Investigators report that a 2003 Chevy vehicle was traveling east on East Lake Avenue when the suspect’s 2003 Infiniti pulled out and entered at the intersection with North 34th Street, hitting the truck. The force of the collision was so strong that the vehicles ricocheted into a third vehicle that had stopped at 34th Street in order to make a left turn.
Careless Driver Causes $20,000 in Damages to Shalimar Private Property
An 18 year old Florida man received minor injuries following a weekend car accident that caused damage to property – including a fire that threatened the safety of nearby electrical power lines. According to the Florida Highway Patrol (FHP), the accident happened early Saturday morning when the driver crashed his Toyota Camry into a roadside mailbox before running through a wooden fence and crashing into tree and flipping over. Once it came to a stop, the car then caught fire and threatened to damage the power lines that stretched across the private property where the crash happened.
Several injured when truck rear-ends bus in Polk County
The Polk County, Florida Sheriff’s Office reported responding to an automobile crash involving a city bus and a truck. Initial reports that the Florida bus accident has left at least seven seriously injured. The accident happened in the Eloise area of Winter Haven along Highway 17. As a result of the accident, Highway 17 was completely blocked from Snively Boulevard to Highway 540.
Woman Killed Following Collision with Dump Truck in North Fort Myers
One person was killed and another injured on Tuesday during a car crash at a North Fort Myers intersection. According to police, the car had come to a stop at a stop sign at Old Bayshore Road. The female driver then turned onto State Road 31, where she was hit by an oncoming dump truck. It is unknown whether she failed to properly look both ways and thus did not see the approaching dump truck. Upon impact, the female driver was killed. A passenger is reported to have suffered from minor injuries. The driver of the dump truck was not injured. Police say no charges are pending at this time.
Crash Brings an End to North Miami Joyride
When police officers responded to a report of a stolen car in North Miami, what they found was the vehicle crashed into a tree – with an injured 10 year old passenger inside. What’s more, as the police approached, the driver took off running. The driver was also 14 years old. The teenage boy, who was later caught, was taken to a hospital for treatment of minor injuries. He readily admitted to crashing the car and has been arrested and charged with grand theft and leaving the scene of a crash with injuries.
Eight Year Old Child Critically Hurt in Car vs Bike Accident in Pasco
An eight year old child out riding his bicycle was critically injured over the weekend when he was hit by an SUV. According to the Florida Highway Patrol (FHP), the crash happened around 3:35 p.m. at the intersection of Palm Avenue and Flagler Drive in Pasco, Florida. The 2005 Lincoln SUV was driven by a 41 year old native of Port Richey, Florida. The driver was heading north on Palm Avenue. As he approached the intersection with Flagler Drive and began to cross, the child rode into the path of the SUV and was hit.
Two Men Killed in Sumter County Car Accident
Two people were killed in a Sumter County, Florida automobile accident. According to a report by the Florida Highway Patrol, a 47 year old man from Lake Panasoffkee was driving a 2000 Oldsmobile Intrigue south on County Road 474 just south of County Road 312 when his car crossed the centerline and hit a 2013 Hyundai Sonata. The Sonata was driven by a 36 year old male from Bushnell, Florida and the police report cites that he had not been wearing a seatbelt at the time of the accident. Both men were pronounced dead at the scene.
Man Charged with Vehicular Homicide Following Tampa Crash
A Brandon, Florida man has been charged with vehicular homicide. The charges follow a three vehicle crash that killed a Tampa man early in the week.
Orlando Man Killed in I-75 Car Accident
According to the Florida Highway Patrol, a 73 year old man was killed while driving his 2005 Chrysler southbound on Interstate 75 near Orlando, Florida. The accident happened near mile marker 441. The police report states that the driver attempted to change lanes from the outside lane to the center one when a vehicle in that lane honked their horn to let him know of their presence.
