Toyota Recall Due to Malfunctioning Airbags
A few days ago, Toyota issued a recall that affects around 645,000 of their vehicles throughout numerous models and years. Although this comes on the heels of a recently expanded recall by the Takata company (maker of many Toyota airbags), the most recent recall from Toyota does not seem to relate to the ongoing Takata scandal and is instead an entirely different hazard that Toyota owners should stay aware of.
Orlando Pedestrian Hit While Crossing Busy Road
A car versus pedestrian accident in Orlando left one person in the hospital. According to local police, the accident happened on Orange Blossom Trail, just south of Lee Road, at around 7:00 am on Tuesday. As a pedestrian was crossing the northbound lanes of Orange Blossom Trail, he was hit by an oncoming vehicle. Emergency first responders took the victim to the Orlando Regional Medical Center for treatment to serious injuries and trauma. His current condition is unknown.
Takata Airbag Recall Expands by 3.3 Million Units
Earlier in the year, the Takata company revisited their product recall and decided that they needed to expand the scope of the notice to include 3.3 million more inflators. The Takata airbag controversy broke open a little more than a year ago after numerous individuals were reported to have died over the course of a few years after the airbags in their front and sides of their cars malfunctioned.

Drunk Man Arrested by OPD After Impersonating a Cop, Crashing into Police Cruiser
A disturbing incident took place this past Thursday that ended in the arrest of an intoxicated 53-year old Ocoee man after he collided with a police vehicle. Officers with the Orlando Police Department issued a statement regarding the situation that indicates that the man, Dolan, has a surprisingly well-documented history of impersonating police officers. This particular circumstance began when an actual police officer with the Orlando Police Department, who was traveling down North John Young Parkway, noticed a black Dodge Charger facing south and pulled over on the north side of the road. The Charger, a commonly used police vehicle, had red and blue flashing lights and the passing officer, believing the driver of the Charger to be another officer, pulled over in order to offer assistance.
Failure to Negotiate Curve Causes Florida Car Crash
A Florida car crash in Osceola County earlier this week left one person dead and two others seriously injured. According to the Florida Highway Patrol (FHP), a 39-year-old male from Pennsylvania was driving his four door Chevrolet north on Canoe Creek Road. Failing to properly negotiate a curve, his car veered into the road’s southbound lane where it struck the left side of an oncoming Ford pickup truck.
Child Hospitalized After Dog Attack in Melbourne
On a Thursday a little over a week ago a four year old child was being watched by two unnamed women in a mobile home park in Melbourne when the child was attacked by several of the dogs within the home. According to a report from officers with the Melbourne Police Department, Lt. Steve Sadoff and Sgt. Martin Miller, the situation took place shortly after 1:00 in the afternoon at The Meadows, a mobile home park located just off of Rolling Rock Drive, close to John Rodes Boulevard and Eau Gallie Boulevard.
