Arrest Made After Chase, Car Accident in Orange County
Close to 6:00 in the evening this past Thursday officers with the Orange County Sheriff’s Office attempted to perform a routine traffic stop on a blue Ford Mustang in the Southern lanes of Pine Hills Road. According to the Orange County Sheriff’s Office report, the officer who attempted to initiate the traffic stop had looked up the information on the blue car and discovered that it was wanted in connection to several unresolved investigations.
Woman Dies after Crash in Orange County Intersection
A car accident that happened in Orange County this past Friday resulted in the death of one individual. Details on the incident emerged shortly after the crash took place, when officers with the Florida Highway Patrol told reporters that they had responded to reports of a crash at the intersection of Rio Grande Avenue and 18th Street at close to 7:00 in the evening. The statements from the officers did not completely fill in all questions left by the the incident, but many of the pertinent details were included.
Leesburg Woman Struck, Killed by Delivery Truck
A collision between a delivery truck and an elderly Leesburg woman resulted in the death of the woman a week ago on Thursday. According to the official report filed by the Florida Highway Patrol, the incident took place just before 9:00 in the morning near to the Lake County intersection of Crooked Oaks Lane and Timber Crest Drive.
Fatal Pedestrian vs CSX Train Collision in Orlando
It was shortly before 11:00 in the morning on February 12th when an Orlando resident who was walking along either South Orange Avenue or 4th Street in Orlando attempted to cross the tracks for the CSX train that is located at the intersection of these two roads. As the man was crossing the tracks, a CSX train came through the intersection, hitting the man and critically injuring him. The Florida Highway Patrol, one of the investigating parties, has issued a statement on the incident that goes over the most verifiable details while concluding with the admission that the reasons behind the crash are still under investigation.
61-Year-Old Pedestrian Struck and Killed in Orlando
An incident that took place late on Thursday night in Orange County resulted in the death of a 61-year-old Orlando pedestrian. According to a report from the Orlando Police Department, the pedestrian, a woman who was identified shortly after the collision took place, was on foot and walking along West Oak Ridge Road at close to 11:30 in the evening when she neared the intersection of West Oak Ridge and Defiance Avenue.
Swerving Driver Kills Two, Injures Others in Bunnell
A three-vehicle crash on State Road 100 just west of Bunnell left two dead and four others injured. According to a witness, the accident was put into motion as a female driving a Hyundai Accent proceeded west on ST 100. Meanwhile, a 2000 Chevy S-10 pickup truck, also traveling west and carrying two passengers, was stopped at the intersection of SR 100 and CR 35 waiting to make a left turn onto CR 35. Another pick-up truck, a Silverado with one passenger, was heading east from the other direction.
Speeding Car Kills Two in Orlando
Two Orlando area men, both in their 20s, died earlier this week when their vehicles collided in the Parramore neighborhood. According to the Orlando Police Department, the crash happened at 2:15 am at the intersection of West Church Street and South Orange Blossom Trail. One car, which was seen speeding west on West Church, failed to stop at a red light. Upon entering the intersection, it collided with a car traveling south on South Orange Blossom Trail. The driver and a passenger in the car traveling south on South Orange Blossom were pronounced dead at the scene. The driver and passenger of the car speeding on West Church were taken to a local hospital, where they were treated for non-life-threatening injuries.
FHP Launches Effort to Curb Hit-and-Run Accidents
As they do every year, the Florida Highway Patrol launched its initiative last Friday to try and reduce the number of hit-and-run accidents that take place along Florida roads. Across the county, hit-and-run drivers and subsequent deaths are a problem that police departments in every state attempt to curb with increased vigilance, awareness, and education. In Florida, hit-and-run accidents seem to be even more of an issue than elsewhere. The statistics gathered paint a dire picture. In the 2017 alone there were over 98,000 reports of hit-and-run accidents. Out of this number, 177 of the reported incidents resulted in a fatality.
SUV Loses Control, Injuring at Least Four in Florida
Four people were injured when their SUV lost control while traveling on Interstate 4 near Davenport, Florida. According to the Florida Highway Patrol (FHP), the Chevy Tahoe was being driven by a 19-year-old male and was carrying seven people.
Brevard County Deputy Killed in Semi-Truck Accident
A sheriff’s deputy was killed over the weekend when his police cruiser was crashed into by a semi-truck that had suffered a serious tire blowout, causing it to swerve into the adjacent lane and into the officer’s vehicle.
