Man Killed in Orlando Motorcycle Accident
A 48-year-old Ocoee motorcyclist was fatally injured in an Orlando motorcycle accident recently when a car turned left in front of him and another car ran him over. Florida Highway Patrol troopers report that the victim was traveling south on his Kawasaki on Edgewater Drive when a car driven by a 36-year-old Orlando woman turned left onto Webster Avenue. The woman made the turn directly in front of the victim, giving him no time to take evasive action. His motorcycle struck the passenger side of the woman’s car in the collision, throwing him from his motorcycle and onto Edgewater Drive, where he was run over and fatally injured by a Hyundai driven by a 48-year-old Orlando woman.
This scenario is sadly familiar to Orlando motorcycle accident attorney James O. Cunningham. In his nearly four decades of practicing law in Central Florida, he has represented and assisted countless motorcycle riders who have been cut off by negligent drivers. Drivers who pull out or change lanes directly in the path of riders are the most common causes of motorcycle accidents in the Orlando area. When this occurs, even the most experienced riders have no time to react and take evasive action. They collide with the vehicle and suffer serious and occasionally fatal injuries, such as these:
- Massive internal injuries
- Subdural hematomas
- Compound bone fractures
- Deep lacerations
- Skull fractures
- Severe concussions
- Neck and spine injuries
- Many other types of serious injuries
Riders who survive these accidents face a long and very expensive road to recovery. They often must endure multiple surgeries, long periods of time in intensive care, long and painful physical rehabilitation regimens and other physical and financial hardships though no fault of their own.
