Woman Crashes into South Florida House, Forgets It Ever Happened
In an incredibly unusual and unlikely turn of events, a woman in south Florida crashed her car into the side of a house and then completely forgot about the entire incident. According to authorities, the driver failed to negotiate the turn around a curve in Lauderdale Lakes on the morning of Thursday, November 19, 2015. She then crashed into a home and initially left the scene. Later, said Mike Jachles of Broward Sheriff Fire Rescue, the young woman showed back up in only a bra and pants to ask whether anyone had seen her car. She was later arrested for leaving the scene of the crash.
The driver of the car was 21-year-old Nicole Danielle Bailey, who had allegedly been telling neighbors she’d been looking for her car all day and had no idea how she’d ended up where she was. Naturally, those neighbors were extremely confused by her behavior and comments, especially because it was clear her car was in the side of another neighbor’s house.
According to neighbor Kimberly Auld, Bailey had also asked “where’s my tab?” Because of that, Auld questioned whether Bailey may have thought she was still at a bar. Bailey’s family, on the other hand, maintains that she was not drunk, but merely in a state of shock and disorientation after the impact and the explosion of the airbag. Police deputies on the scene did report finding marijuana in the center console of Bailey’s vehicle, though it is uncertain whether that played a role in this incident.
The damage to the house was extensive; every room but the bathroom was damaged in the crash. According to building inspector Dean Decker, Bailey’s vehicle had taken out two support beams, leaving the house unsafe to live in. Decker said he had never seen a vehicle crash so far into a house in 20 years of inspections. Luckily, the homeowners – a man and his wife, who were sleeping at the time of the crash – came out of the incident alive, with only the wife sustaining cuts to her leg.
