Two Dead, Two Injured in Orange County Hit-and-Run
An incident involving several cars that took place within Orlando on the morning of Thursday resulted in the death of at least two women. Reports from the Orlando Police Department stated that the hit-and-run accident took place at some point before noon, although the exact time of the collision was not given. At this time, numerous vehicles were traveling along Colonial Drive, somewhere between Highland Avenue and Summerlin Avenue.
What exactly happened to cause the crash remains an object of speculation. We know that one of the cars involved was carrying four women. We know that the other car was occupied only by a male driver. It is not clear if either of the drivers of the two vehicles were operating their cars in ways that were unsafe or reckless. It is not known if alcohol or any other substances could have played a role in the incident.
What is clear is that the two cars collided with enough force to cause the occupants of the car carrying the women to suffer from injuries. These injuries ranged from severe to fatal. When emergency response crews were called – and it is not clear who called them – they found that two of the women in the car were beyond assistance. These women were pronounced dead at the scene of the crash. It is not clear if either of these two were behind the wheel of the car. The other two women in the car at the time of the crash were transported to nearby hospitals. It is believed that they are each in stable condition.
The second car involved in the crash was empty at the time when police arrived at the crash site and found it abandoned near Park Lake. After a search was conducted, using K-9 units as well as a helicopter, the driver of this car was found attempting to hide along the lake’s northern edge. This person was transported to a nearby hospital where he is believed to be in stable condition. The police stated that they were not immediately aware of just why this person fled from the scene of the accident.
