Person Behind Fatal Hit-and-Run Arrested in Kissimmee
On the night of Sunday, May 19th, a fatal hit-and-run accident took place within the city of Kissimmee that left investigators throughout the area searching for the individual responsible. The accident happened close to 3:30 in the morning and involved two people: one driver and their passenger.
What we know is that close to 3:30 in the morning, a 26-year-old was driving a Toyota four-door down the northern lane of San Lorenzo Road in Kissimmee when something happened to cause them to lose control of the car. Before they were able to regain control, the car left the roadway, ran down a sign, and then came to a stop after hitting a tree with considerable force. It is not known if the driver of the car was injured in the crash, but they were well enough to exit the vehicle and then run away from the area. The passenger in the car, also a 26-year-old, was not so fortunate.
The reports stated that this passenger was not wearing a seatbelt, although whether or not this had any direct bearing on the injuries they sustained in the accident is not known. Regardless, during the crash they sustained injuries severe enough that when the paramedics and EMTs reached the are there was nothing that they could do. The 26-year-old passenger was declared dead at the scene.
It is not known what directed the authorities to the Apollo Inn in Kissimmee, but later that same day they approached the hotel. The 26-year-old who is suspected of fleeing from the crash was booked into this hotel, and the police located and apprehended this person without any reported struggle. Police then transported this person from the hotel to the Osceola County Jail, where he was booked without bond. It is believed that this person is now facing numerous charges, including fleeing from the scene of a fatal accident and vehicular homicide.
