Pedestrian Killed in Palm Bay Hit-and-Run

By Orlando Personal Injury Attorney on August 20, 2019

Little is currently known about a hit-and-run accident that took place within Palm Bay on the night of Sunday, August 18th, that left a single pedestrian dead. Officers with the Palm Bay Police Department are currently searching for the person or persons responsible for the incident, although it is not yet believed that anyone has been apprehended or even that there are any suspects who the police are looking to question in relation to the incident.

At the time of this writing, what we know does not amount to very much. Certain facts are, however, the ongoing investigation has confirmed. These facts place the time of the crash close to 9:45 at night, at an area of Palm Bay Road that is close to Lipscomb Street. It is not clear just how the authorities found out about the incident, although it seems highly likely that there were witnesses to the accident. As well as reporting on the crash itself, this witness or witnesses told the authorities that the car involved failed to stop at all after colliding with the pedestrian.

Shortly before the crash, the pedestrian was walking along Palm Bay Road. It is not known if a sidewalk skirts the area of Palm Bay Road or if the pedestrian was instead walking in the shoulder or in the roadway itself. It is also not clear if the pedestrian was alone or if there were other individuals who were accompanying this person, also on foot.

Emergency medical providers, including EMTs and paramedics rushed to the area in the moments following the accident. When they arrived, they found that there was very little that they could do for the badly injured pedestrian. It is not known if the pedestrian was transported from the scene of the crash to a nearby hospital or if they were declared dead at the site of the accident.

The crash remains under investigation as authorities with the Palm Bay Police Department urge anyone with any information to reach out and share it with the authorities.

The identity of the deceased pedestrian was not included in the initial report.
