Hit-and-Run Leaves Orlando Moped Driver in Critical Condition

By Orlando Personal Injury Attorney on October 11, 2016

A crash on Tuesday morning on Colonial Drive and Forsythe Road has left one individual critically injured and another individual fleeing the scene to parts unknown. As is standard, the Florida Highway Patrol filed a report to discuss the issue and fill the public in on the information that has so far been gathered regarding the case. According to this report, an unnamed 64-year-old man from Orlando was driving his moped along Forsyth Road when another car, which has yet to be discovered or identified, collided with the rear of the moped.

Due to the severity of the impact, the driver of the moped was thrown from his vehicle and the moped itself crashed and slid for a brief way along the asphalt.

The driver of the car that caused the impact did not stick around long at all, and by the time the emergency teams responded to the scene there was not much of a trail to follow. Authorities have stated that they are looking for a car that is possibly white with damage to its front end, but even this tip is only a shot in the dark. However, criminals and hit and run perpetrators have been caught on far less than this information.

For the man who was injured in this incident, life will never be the same. It is not even certain at this moment whether or not he will survive the extensive internal and external injuries that he suffered as a result of the other driver’s negligence. What is clear is that both the driver of the moped and his friends and loved ones are all reeling from this incident which did not in any way need to happen. It was, ultimately, a foolish act made by foolish people who showed little to no regard for the lives of others.

The investigation into this event is still underway, and the Florida Highway Patrol hopes to be able to release more information as soon as they begin to gather it. Number on on the list of things they hope to release is the name of the individual who caused such as mess to happen in the first place.
