Teen Charged with DUI Manslaughter After T-Bone Crash in Dunedin
After two months of investigations, authorities with the Pinellas County Sheriff’s Office have arrested an 18-year-old individual for his involvement in a fatal auto accident that claimed the life of a 75-year-old woman in April.
According to initial collision reports from Wednesday, April 5, 2023, it was close to 11:00 p.m. when 18-year-old Dominic Rampi was driving a 2011 BMW 335I at a high rate of speed in the southern direction of Belcher Road in Dunedin. As he approached the intersection of Belcher Road and Curlew Road, Rampi proceeded to run the red light governing the flow of traffic. This dangerous decision caused his vehicle to slam into the side of a 2013 Dodge Charger being driven by 75-year-old Marion Miller.
The profound impact from the collision propelled the Dodge Charger into 38-year-old Rachel Worley who was driving a 2010 Mazda 3 sedan-style vehicle near the intersection when the first crash occurred.
Officers with the Pinellas County Sheriff’s Office and Dunedin emergency medical teams responded to the three-vehicle crash and promptly transported 75-year-old Marion Miller to the nearest trauma center. She was unable to survive the severity of her injuries and died shortly thereafter. She leaves behind a huge family, including a devoted husband of 57 years, two children, six grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren, and a sister.
The driver of the Mazda, 38-year-old Rachel Worley, was unharmed.
Dominic Rampi received treatment for undisclosed, minor injuries at a nearby hospital.
Thorough investigations and toxicology reports retrieved by the Major Accident Investigation Team with the Pinellas County Sheriff’s Office indicated that 18-year-old Dominic Rampi was under the influence of alcohol and marijuana at the time of the deadly accident. He was arrested on Tuesday for DUI manslaughter and taken to the Pinellas County Jail where he awaits his day in court.
