Woman Killed in Lake Mary Car Accident
On Wednesday night an accident took place along I-4, at the entrance to the Lake Mary rest stop, that left a 29-year-old woman dead and the Florida Highway Patrol searching the scene for clues as to what exactly happened. The accident was initially reported around 1:50 in the morning, well into the deepest sleep of most Florida citizens. As far as the Florida Highway Patrol has been able to reconstruct the series of events that led to this unfortunate accident, a Deltona resident named Vanessa Rivera was driving her 2001 Acura along the eastbound lanes of I-4 when she neared the Lake Mary rest stop.
At this time, for reasons that remain a mystery to all the investigating parties, Rivera’s car left the lane it was traveling in and moved across the far left lane of I-4. The car then collided with a “no parking” sign. After this initial collision, the car ricochet off the sign and collided with a tree. Rivera was unfortunately not wearing a seatbelt, and this second collision with a much more unmoving object than the sign caused her to be thrown from the vehicle.
By the time the emergency response crews arrived it was too late and Rivera was confirmed to be dead at the scene.
As the investigation continues, more details will emerge. So far it is known that, as we have already mentioned, Rivera was not wearing a seatbelt and that hers was the only vehicle involved in the deadly crash. Currently, the Florida Highway Patrol has not released any information regarding the presence or absence of alcohol in Rivera’s blood, although they have said that the tests are underway and close to offering results.
There are any number of factors that could contribute to an accident of this sort, where only one car is involved and the driver of this car is no longer able to tell us herself what occurred. The authorities will continue to investigate this particular incident, hopefully giving us more clues as to just what happened on this night to take the life of Vanessa Rivera.
