Stolen Mustang Crashes into Car and House in St. Petersburg
According to St. Petersburg, Florida police, a stolen Ford Mustang had crashed into a vacant house after it had previously hit a SUV. The crash occurred on the 2000 block of 35th Street South. Three individuals are reported to have been taken to a nearby hospital for treatment to minor injuries.
Speaking to a local news channel, police say that the 18 year old behind the wheel of the stolen Mustang was speeding when he ran the stop sign at 35th Street South and 21st Avenue South. Upon running the intersection, his vehicle crashed into a mother and her 14 year old son in the SUV. The impact of the crash caused the driver of the Mustang to lose control of the vehicle, sending it crashing into a nearby vacant house.
Although the investigation continues and criminal charges against the driver of the Mustang are pending, it is pretty clear from the facts provided that the driver was both acting criminally and negligently. As a result, he is likely to face not only criminal charges, but also civil charges for the damage his criminal and negligent actions caused to the house, the SUV and the mother and child.
