One Dead After Single-Car Crash With Tree in Orlando
A Thursday morning collision between a car and a tree in Orlando resulted in the death of at least one person on April 26th. Initial reports from the Orlando Police Department indicated that the incident, which only involved one car, happened along the 5900 block of Bent Pine Drive, close to where this road intersects with Semoran Boulevard.
It appears that the car involved was first noticed as it departed from a local business. The report did not specify which local business, nor did it say who alerted the authorities as to the car’s actions before the collision with the tree. The person who saw the car leave the business told Orlando Police that the speed with which the car was traveling when it left the business was much greater than it should have been, although it is not clear if the individual who made these statements has the authority to determine whether or not a vehicle is traveling above the posted limit.
Regardless, it was as this car was then traveling down Bent Pine Drive that the driver, for reasons that were not speculated upon in the initial report, lost control and the car swerved off of the road. The driver of the car was not able to regain control before the vehicle collided directly with a tree growing near to the street.
As a result of the collision, one of the people inside of the vehicles was violently thrown out of the car. It is not believed that this person was wearing a seatbelt at the time of the crash.
The other three individuals inside of the car at the time of the collision with the tree were also injured. Emergency personnel arrived shortly afterwards and began to attend to the crash victims. One of them, the report did not specify whom, was declared dead at the scene of the crash. All three of the others were taken to a hospital nearby and all were believed to be suffering from critical injuries.
No descriptions of the crash victims has emerged from the Orlando Police Department and it is believed that the incident is still very much under investigation.
