Individual Killed in One-Car Crash Near Disney World

On the afternoon of this past Saturday, an accident took place in Orange County that left one individual dead. The accident, which appears to only have involved the one car and its sole occupant, happened at around 3:30 in the afternoon, on a stretch of Hartzog Road that lies only a handful of miles away from Walt Disney World as well as the famous Disney attraction Animal Kingdom. The Florida Highway Patrol has released a statement regarding the event that outlines all of the details as they are currently known, although the report issued creates more questions than it does answers.

According to the Florida Highway patrol, the unnamed driver of the vehicle, a Nissan, was driving westbound on Avalon Road when the accident took place. The driver of the car attempted to navigate a sharp curve along the road, but for reasons that are currently in question failed to do so. As a result, the vehicle left the road, began to flip, and then impacted a tree. During these events, the driver of the vehicle was ejected from the car. By the time emergency crews reached the scene it was too late and the driver was declared dead shortly thereafter.

Due to the unusual circumstances surrounding the accident it is still under investigation. While Florida State Troopers work to find identification for the driver and next of kin to notify they are also trying to unravel the reasons as to why the driver left the road in the first place. It is not known whether or not there have been any tests to discover if alcohol or drugs were in the driver’s system, and it has not been released whether or not the driver was wearing a seatbelt (although, the fact that they were thrown from the car seems to indicate that either their seatbelt was not in use or it malfunctioned).

Regardless of the state troopers discoveries, this is a tragic event that has led to the death of someone who likely will leave behind bereaved family and friends who are looking for answers and solace in this troubling time.
