Florida Man Confronts Driver After Crash, Is Hit And Killed By Oncoming Car

By Orlando Personal Injury Attorney on March 28, 2016

In a terrible combination of two separate accidents, a 68-year-old man was struck and killed by a car after he attempted to cross the road to confront the driver of the vehicle with which he had just been in another car accident. Both accidents occurred on Sunday, February 21st, 2016 on East Lake Road near the Pasco County line.

According to Florida Highway Patrol spokesman Sergeant Steve Gaskins, the victim, Frank Martello, had been impaired at the time of the crash, and that he had thrown a beer bottle at the other vehicle. Due to his impairment, it is quite possible that Martello was not thinking properly and failed to watch for oncoming traffic before heading out into the roadway.

The vehicle that hit Frank Martello that night was a Chrysler 200 driven by 79-year-old Jane Leven, who was carrying three passengers at the time. No information has been provided as to whether Leven holds any responsibility in the incident. As of the following Monday morning, no charges had been filed.

Since the incident occurred, an investigation by the Florida Highway Patrol has been under way. No additional details have been released as to the identity of the other driver involved in the initial accident, or whether he or she will face any sort of charges.
